Gorgeous Goa

It was such great fun to hang out in Goa last weekend. The beach was sunny...well, one day was sunny and one day was rainy, but hey - ONE DAY WAS SUNNY!!! :) One evening we went on a little excursion to see some old Portuguese churches. The architecture was so beautiful. The church pictured below was the church of Goa's patron saint, Francis Xavier. Legend has it that after he died off the coast of China, his servant poured quicklime into the coffin so that he'd not have to return his remains to Goa (I wonder if he wasn't a fan of India, or if he just didn't want to travel all the way back there without his friend.). As the story goes, his body mysteriously never decomposed. His preservation was declared a miracle and many years later he was made a saint. There are many different versions of other things that happened to St. Francis Xavier, some more gory than others.
